Foocat Terms of Use

Last updated: 2026-09-14

These terms apply when you use Foocat. The most important part is about what you contribute: when you save a product with your own photo, the photo becomes part of Foocat’s shared product catalog, where every user can see it — and it stays there. How we handle data about you is described in the privacy policy.

Using Foocat

Foocat requires no account. You may use the app for your own purposes, but not to disrupt the service, get around its protections, or harvest the catalog automatically at scale.

Nutrition values are guidance

The values in Foocat are read from packaging and come from users’ submissions. The values on a package are legal minimums and maximums, and carbohydrates are calculated as a difference — so they carry the error of every other value. Treat the figures as informed guidance rather than a lab analysis, and talk to your vet before making decisions about your cat’s health.

What you submit

You can submit photos of the packaging and product details such as name, brand, and analytical constituents. Photos and details that are accepted become part of the shared catalog and are shown to all users.

The photos you take are yours. By saving, you give Foocat the right to use the photos and details you submit. That right is:

  • non-exclusive — you remain free to use your photos however you like,
  • royalty-free, worldwide, and without time limit, and
  • irrevocable — it does not end if you stop using the app, uninstall it, or ask us to remove the photo.

It covers storing, displaying, and distributing the photos and details in the app, on foocat.app, and when we tell people about Foocat, for example in screenshots of the app. It also covers editing the photos, such as cropping, rotating, or compressing them. We may let the suppliers who run the service on our behalf do the same, and transfer the right to whoever runs Foocat in the future. Photos are shown without crediting you as the photographer.

What you promise

  • You took the photo yourself, or otherwise have the right to share it.
  • The photo shows the packaging — no people and no personal information, such as names, addresses, or receipts.
  • The details are accurate, as far as you know.

What is not allowed

Do not submit photos or details that:

  • are sexual, violent, hateful, abusive, or otherwise offensive,
  • show people or contain personal information,
  • infringe someone else’s rights, for example a photo someone else took,
  • are illegal, or
  • are deliberately wrong, advertising, or spam.

Screening and removal

Before a photo is shown to others, it is checked — automatically by an AI service (Google Gemini), or by us by hand. Photos that break these terms are not published, and photos with offensive content, people, or personal information are deleted. We may remove, hide, or replace photos and details at any time — for example if they break these terms, are wrong, or a better photo exists.

Because photos are part of a shared catalog, we are not obliged to remove a photo just because the person who took it asks us to. We will always remove content when the law requires it, for example if a photo shows a person, contains personal information, or infringes someone else’s rights. This does not affect your rights under data protection law, as described in the privacy policy.

Report content

See a photo or detail in Foocat that you believe is illegal or breaks these terms? Email foocatcontact@gmail.com and tell us which product it concerns (barcode or name), what is wrong, and why. We review every report and remove whatever breaks the law or these terms. Wrong analytical constituents can also be corrected directly in the app.

Liability

We do our best to keep the details accurate and Foocat working, but we cannot promise that they always will be. We are not liable for damage arising from your reliance on details in the app, except where mandatory law says otherwise.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The latest version is always available on this page, with the date of the most recent change at the top. If we change how we may use what you submit, the change applies only to what you submit after it is published.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Swedish law. If you live in another country, you keep the consumer protection its law gives you.
